If you have taken a moment to walk around our grounds over the past couple of weeks, you may have noticed a big change: The beginnings of our Stone Soup Garden are in place!
Thanks to Susan and Tom Alarie, the soil has been turned over, the raised-bed constructed and the dirt filled in. With help from John Straw, Katie Straw, Christopher Riley, Leonard Henry and Aleece Henry, the soil has been leveled and raked, and the clumps have been broken apart!
The garden is now ready for plants!
Following the service on May 31st, we will be planting our vegetables. Those who took home seeds to care for on April 19th are invited to take part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony and garden dedication that will follow the worship service. Also, if you signed up to donate supplies (gloves, fencing, hoses, etc.), please plan to bring them on the 31st.
We are still looking for a few volunteers to assist the children in their garden-tending endeavors during class-time this summer. (If you would like to share your gardening expertise or if you just like to get your hands dirty, this is the place for you!) Volunteers may sign up for as little as one Sunday or for as many Sundays as you would like. For more information, contact Amy Derrick at pestro2001@hotmail.com
