Next Sunday (June 21st) the junior high and senior high youth will have the opportunity to help serve food at the North End Soup Kitchen from 10am-2pm. During this trip they will also have the chance to learn more about the organization that we will be donating produce to through our Stone Soup Garden project.
The North End Soup Kitchen is funded by Catholic Charities and has been serving the hungry in Flint since 1940. They provide 3 meals a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year! They also provide a variety of other programs including sack lunches, a summer kids camp and a personal needs linen closet which supplies diapers, formula, clothing and toiletries to those who need them.
We still need a couple of adults who are interested in helping to transport our youth to and from the soup kitchen! If you are available and would like to accompany our youth, please contact Amy Derrick.
Each youth will need to have a signed permission slip in order to attend. The permission slip is available by clicking on the link at the side of this page. Extra forms will also be available on the day of the field trip.
