It's Hard to Love a Criminal
Lets
look at how the War on Drugs has served the white establishment in its
racist building empire. Mass incarceration is a hard issue to love, but
its consequences are dire.
Topics around incarceration, the war on drugs and race can be sensitive issues for people of all ages, and we hope that as we explore these issues as an intentional, loving congregation, that you will be inspired to continue talking about it beyond the walls of our church.
We recognize that there are many families in our communities who been touched by these difficult issues, and perhaps will wonder how to talk to and comfort the children in our midst. During The Moment For All Ages on Sunday, we introduced one of the tools available from the Sesame Workshop to help parents and children learn and talk with one another about incarceration. I hope that you will take a moment to view the video below and spend some time looking at some of the other fantastic resources that the Sesame Workshop has made available for families that have been touched by Incarceration.
