Despite the hectic schedule that often comes along with summer’s end, I am feeling energized and excited for the upcoming program year! We have many new program opportunities to look forward to; from our Welcoming Congregation Reaffirmation Workshops to two new classes available to our children and youth on Sunday mornings. Also, I am excited that we will have Shelley Page, our interim minister, with us for this year! I hope that each of you has had the chance to meet and welcome her.
As we are all watching our calendar dates quickly fill up, there are a few items of note that I hope will occupy a spot on your calendars:
*On September 12, we will kick-off our new program year with our annual Ingathering Water Communion service, followed by the Jon Owen Memorial picnic. I am looking forward to celebrating the possibilities of our new program year as we join together in a multigenerational worship experience, and especially looking forward to celebrating with food, fellowship and games after the service! Also, I hope you will join me in crossing fingers for more beautiful weather so we can Slip and Slide and bounce in the bounce house during our picnic!
*On September 19th, we will be kicking off our first day of Lifespan Learning classes by honoring our volunteers who will be guiding our children and youth along their spiritual journeys this year. Following this service will be a great opportunity for one and all to visit our classrooms and get to know our Lifespan Learning program and goals. For more details about our Lifespan Learning program, including a full prospectus, registration forms and schedules, please visit www.uuflintlifespan.blogspot.com.
I hope that as this letter reaches each of you, that you have found at least a few moments this summer to relax and breathe, even as fall is upon us.
~In Faith,
Amy Peterson Derrick,
Director of Lifespan Learning
