Summer Program reminder

We are getting closer and closer to harvest season and I thrilled with the progress of the garden. I am sure that we will have a fair amount of produce to donate to the North End Soup Kitchen this summer!

Parents should note that until the second Sunday of September, the children and youth will be working on maintaining the Stone Soup Garden (see details below) every Sunday as the weather permits. This means that the kids will begin in the service as usual, but for at least the first 15 minutes of class time, the children will be expected to assist in the garden and the related discussions. Once work is finished in the garden, the rest of the time will be free play.

On rainy days, the children and youth will be indoors working on other projects and discussing issues related to hunger.

If your child would like to participate in this program, please encourage them to dress appropriately and be ready to dig in the dirt! If your child is not interested in the summer program, childcare is available for children 3 and under; older children are encouraged to attend worship.

If your child is under the age of 4, but would like to participate in the garden work, we are requesting that they be accompnied by a parent or guardian.

Parents should also remember to pick up your child following the conclusion of the service; on rainy days from the classroom and on nice days from the garden area.

Looking forward to many sunny days! Please contact Amy Derrick with any questions or concerns.
